Plastic surgery clinic for Dublin

Five medical consultants have established the first stand-alone cosmetic surgery clinic in Ireland to be staffed and owned by qualified plastic surgeons.

Kevin Cronin, Patricia Eadie, Brian Kneafsey, Margaret O’Donnell and David O’Donovan are all attached to major Dublin hospitals and have decided to bring their cosmetic practices together as Aesthetic Surgery Ireland (ASI). Based in Ballsbridge in Dublin, it offers surgical procedures and non-surgical treatments, such as Botox and laser treatments.

Cosmetic surgery is rising in popularity in Ireland, but many doctors performing procedures at clinics do not have formal training in aesthetic surgery. The Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons (IAPS) has expressed concern about the lack of regulation in the sector. ‘‘All the surgeons are fully qualified and are on the specialist register of the Medical Council,” said Dermot Kelly, chief executive of ASI.
